Italy's mythologized beauty is a secret to no one and I have spent more time photographing this Mediterranean destination than any other. ‘NAVIGAZIONE’ was taken on my first trip to Lake Como. I was hopelessly taken by the classical beauty of the rugged yet refined landscape. Historical villas, aperol spritzes, and timing things just right, some of the most beautiful vehicles to have ever graced the road. Each year,the Concorso d’Eleganza is held at the iconic Villa d’Este. A location of that caliber demands the most exceptional vehicles and thankfully that demand is met in spectacular fashion.
The cars themselves are the perfect proxy for the beauty that defines Lake Como; outdated, impractical and expensive, yet charmingly romantic and reminiscent of a time punctuated by elegance. ‘NAVIGAZIONE’ is a one-of-five 1956 Ferrari 250 Zagato. Penned by Ugo Zagato’s team with the most spectacular sweeping, lightweight body and Zagato's trademark double-bubble roof - a wonderful accommodation for racing helmets. This stunning two tone example is chassis number 0515GT, which competed in the 1956 Mille Miglia.
